Use the quoted grease and seal execution, then set inspection intervals from actual duty and contamination rather than a universal calendar rule.
Confirm the delivered execution
Before setting a maintenance interval, record whether the bearing is relubricable, sealed for life or supplied with application-specific grease. Model suffixes and special temperature requirements can change the grease, seals and permitted maintenance method.
Inspection points
- Noise, roughness and temperature change during travel
- Grease leakage, dried grease or contamination around seals
- Corrosion, dents or spalling on rail and roller contact surfaces
- Axial play, carriage skew and abnormal edge contact
- Loose fasteners, damaged adjustment locks or cracked plate welds
- Blocked lubrication access or missing plugs and fittings
Base the interval on duty
Continuous travel, shock, washdown, abrasive dust, steel scale, outdoor storage and elevated temperature usually require more frequent inspection than a protected warehouse guide. Begin with the machine risk assessment and bearing supplier guidance, then adjust the interval from recorded condition. Keep the same inspection points so trends can be compared.
Grease compatibility matters
Do not mix greases without compatibility confirmation. A change in base oil, thickener or additives can reduce lubrication performance even when both products are described as bearing grease. For high-temperature or food-related applications, specify the required grease during quotation rather than changing it after delivery.
Replacement planning
Record the complete model and suffix before the marking becomes unreadable. Keep the controlled drawing, last inspection results and matching profile reference with the maintenance record. For a plate-mounted assembly, decide whether the bearing alone or the bearing-and-plate unit will be replaced.
